Bas Oorschot returned to Northern Ontario years ago (1996), seeking a simpler life in the country, after acquiring an Honours Degree in Science and in the Arts from Guelph University. He found his true passion with the clay while completing his apprenticeship and attending the Craft and Design program at Canadore College.
Liliane joined him, bringing her own passion for the clay and together they inspired the development of Stonethrow Pottery.

They built a beautiful, quiet, scenic studio where they produce high quality handcrafted functional stoneware. The view inspires them daily to continuously create new bodies of work. They welcome you to visit their new store and enjoy a few moments of country tranquility at their hill top location.


They take enormous pride in the making of their pottery. All of their pieces are Lead and Cadmium free. All of the cookware are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. As proud crafter's they pay special attention to detail ensuring excellence in what they produce, creating pieces that are both beautiful and functional. With simple care instructions your pieces can last many years.  
Their store is filled with the usual favorites such as Tea pots, cream and sugars, pitchers, milk jugs, berry bowls, goblets, salt pigs, mugs, steins, soap dispensers and platters of all sizes and shapes. And yes, they also make an endless supply of bowls. To appreciate the immense joy they have in the life as clay creators, one must visit their hilltop, lookout studio/store.  
Their make many different sizes and shapes of platters and even have added handles and pedestals to enhance the function with artistic style. They also make unique clocks both from pottery and glass that would enhance any wall.

Trivets, cookie jars and compost pots, oil and vinegar bottles, small and large vases, the possibilities are endless!

Even their decorative pieces are functional in nature and are designed to enhance your home and garden. They pride themselves in the functionality even in the whimsical pieces, such as toad houses and hummingbird feeders, bird baths and hanging planters.
